HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH RECAP!

¡Qué divertido! Hispanic Heritage Month was Sept. 15th to October 15th. We had a lot of fun celebrating and learning about Hispanic culture here at Hope Academy! Some of our highlights included learning Spanish worship songs in chapel, reading Esperanza Rising in 5th grade (A story about a Mexican family that immigrates to the US) and reading Waiting for the Biblioburro (About a man in Columbia who delivers library books via donkey to various villages) in 3rd grade! Some Lower School students even sang “Las Mañanitas” as a surprise for Luz Maria on her birthday! Upper School researched different Hispanic scientists in Mr. Quiggle’s class and our PSEO Spanish students made a special Hispanic Heritage Month bulletin board! Our Mom’s Spanish Bible Study also started on Friday mornings. Click ‘Read More’ for some fun pictures!

VIRTUAL HOME VISITS ARE NEXT WEEK!

Virtual Home Visits are next week! Wednesday (10/20) – Friday (10/22).  These are 20 minute meetings for you and your student to relationally connect with their teacher! Teachers will be emailing your Teams meeting invite on Monday and Tuesday so keep an eye out. The invite will be sent to both your parent email and your students Hope email. If you have tech questions before Wednesday (10/20), please call Simon Hall at 612-540-2099. If you have tech questions or issues the day of your home visit, please call the front office at 612-540-2000. Need Spanish interpretation during your Home Visit? Please call Gloria Reyes at 612-540-2039 to make sure we have an interpreter scheduled for you. Thanks! We look forward to seeing you all!

NO SCHOOL OCTOBER 20 – 22

Because of home visits, there is no school Wednesday (10/20), Thursday (10/21), or Friday (10/22). Enjoy the couple of days off.

REVIVE

Revive is an after-school program that provides a safe space for youth to build healthy friendships and connect with older godly mentors. Students in grades 6–9 are welcome to attend. We meet on Tuesdays from 5:30–8:00pm at Hope Academy. You can find more information and register your child at jubileeminneapolis.org/revive. Contact Frank Schmidt with any questions: f.schmidt@jubileeminneapolis.org or (715) 937–0064.

KEEPING POTENTIALLY SICK KIDS HOME

Reminder: Please keep potentially sick children at home when symptoms arise! If your child complains of a headache, stomach-ache, fever, or cough, please keep them at home and if possible, get a COVID test before returning to school. It’s better to err on the safe side and have one student miss a day or two, than to jeopardize in-person instruction for 20 of their classmates. Thank you! Doing school during a pandemic is challenging, but we can succeed with God’s help.

AWESOME SOCCER SEASON!

Congratulations to our women’s soccer team who finished with an all-time school best record of 10-6. Freshman Liza Timm finished the regular season with 45 goals, which is the 5th most in state history! Vote for Liza as Top Minnesota Player of the Week! (Closes on Sunday 10/17).

The men’s soccer team advanced to the section semifinals (Saturday @4:00 vs. Cristo Rey) with an amazing assist kick by Abhi Peterson with the header goal by Joel Santana to go into overtime where Abhi scored the winning goal off a penalty kick. Go Lions!
