• CASE STATEMENT | a vision for the future

NOW IS A TIME FOR HOPE

In the last 16 years, Hope Academy has grown from an urban, Christian school start-up in South Minneapolis, into one of the largest independent schools in the country serving inner-city children. Today, over 425 students are bearing abundant fruit completely out of proportion to the school’s modest beginnings.

This life-transforming fruit is the fruit of the Spirit of God. As Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

“Hope Academy has grown into one of the largest independent schools in the country serving inner-city children.”

A growing chorus of our nation’s educational leaders have together concluded that the greatest asset you can give a child to help them break out of the cycle of generational poverty is the gift of strong moral character.1

Unfortunately, today’s leaders have rejected the faith-based roots that feed moral character. Hope Academy has demonstrated that a faith-based approach is essential to closing the achievement gap between suburban and urban kids. To spread hope to more children, we need your help.

IT’S TIME TO GROW, SPREAD, and FUEL HOPE!

The Board of Hope Academy believes the time has come for leaders to engage with a proposal to spread Hope Academy to more children and to more cities. The Hope Now! Campaign includes three coordinated initiatives that have the potential to bring a remarkable, God-centered education to thousands more inner-city youth.

THE OPPORTUNITY | 3 Strategic Initiatives

GROW HOPE | $6.24 Million

A recent supply and demand analysis of student access to high-performing schools in Minneapolis concluded that Hope Academy is located in the highest need neighborhood of the entire city. No other community in the city is more in need of a rigorous and relevant school like Hope Academy than the Phillips Neighborhood of Minneapolis.2

The Growing Hope Initiative expands the Chicago Avenue Campus to accommodate 275 more high-poverty students in the next 10 years. To serve 700 students by 2025, the current facilities will need significant renovations and additions.

2“The Opportunity Gap – Defined,” by IFF.

SPREAD HOPE | $3 Million

The Spreading Hope Initiative is a response to the growing demand from school leaders across the country to help them to develop Hope Academy-type schools in their own cities. We want to promote, equip, and support urban, classical schools across the country by hosting national and regional conferences, producing relevant publications and resources, and offering coaching and consulting services.

FUEL HOPE | $10 million

Our goal in Fueling Hope is to raise an endowment of $10 million to underwrite the cost of serving Hope Academy students in perpetuity. Gifts to our Legacy Partners Endowment Fund will ensure the long-term affordability of a Hope Academy education for more inner-city youth.

YOU CAN BRING HOPE NOW

Before we take any further steps, the Board of Hope Academy needs to hear from you, our mission partners. Your input and candid response to this vision is essential. Therefore, we’ve asked The Timothy Group of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to assist us in conducting a pre-campaign study to identify volunteers and donors who will join us in bringing “Hope Now!” to our city and beyond. Thank you for your prayerful and candid feedback.
