10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT 2019 SUMMER SESSION

1. Times: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Doors open at 8:20.
2. Dates: June 10-13, 17-20, 24-28, July 1-3.
3. Required for students completing K-8th grade and some High School students.
4. Some students will be required to attend from 12:30-2:30 for extra Math/Reading Support.
5. ACT Prep Classes for 10th and 11th Grade – Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
6. HopeWORKS internships with small stipends for some 9th/10th/11th grade.
7. Summer School shirts, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes are required.
8. 6th Grade Local Mission Trip is the 1st Week (June 10-13). Leave Monday morning, get back Thursday at lunch.

SUMMER SCHOOL ATTENDANCE POLICIES

If you are going to be absent for any Summer Session days, it is important to read the Summer Session Information Flier. Doors open at 8:20 am. Summer School starts at 8:30 am each day. If you are late, you must make up that time by staying twice the minutes late in the afternoon. Click here for the: Upper School Summer Session Info 2019

FREE YMCA MEMBERSHIP

The YMCA is once again giving High School students FREE memberships for the summer. Each Branch has 300-400. Sign-ups are open either online at www.ymcamn.org/getsummer or in person.

 

Summer Office Hours

June 10th-July 3rd: Summer Session. Mon-Thurs 8am-3pm (closed on Fridays)

July 8th – August 9th: Summer Break. Mon-Thurs 9am-2pm (closed on Fridays)

Starting August 12th: Regular Hours. Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

Just to clarify – these are the times our Hope Academy front office will be open, NOT the times students are expected to be here. Thanks!

BUS NOTIFICATION CARDS

Summer Session bus notification cards will be mailed out the week of June 2nd. These notification cards will include bus stop location and time information.

Transportation address changes during the summer may be done by calling (612) 540-2084. Bus stop location may not be changed and transportation is not available outside of Minneapolis District lines.

FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS THIS SUMMER

All students participating in Minnesota State High School sports next year (typically our 7th-12th grade sports) must have a current physical on file at Hope Academy.

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT FIELD TRIP

7th and 8th grade students will have the chance to learn about personal finance during the first week of summer school through the Junior Achievement program. The week will culminate with a trip to Junior Achievement’s Biztown on Thursday, June 12th where students will serve as business owners and learn about how a local economy works. 7th & 8th grade students will return to school at 2:15 pm and will need to have a ride home at that time.

METRO TRANSIT SUMMER BUS PASSES

Get a summer’s worth of rides on buses and light rail with a Summer Student Pass for only $29!

Any current 9-12th grade student at Hope Academy can get unlimited rides on buses and trains from June 1 through Sept. 3. Go to www.metrotransit.org/summer-pass to get more details about the pass.

NOW HIRING: Tech Integration Specialist & Instructor

This role plays a key part in building and delivering a strong technology program for Hope Academy. The role has two key dimensions. First, the Technology Integration Specialist dimension of the job will help train and support teachers in how to integrate technology in the classroom. Second, the Technology Instructor dimension of the job will focus on the development of a K-12 technology curriculum and teaching classes defined for delivering that curriculum. To apply click here!

6TH GRADE MISSION TRIP INFO

During the first week of Summer Session (June 10-13), the 6th grade students participate in local Minneapolis mission trip. Students will stay overnight at Hope Academy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night and will go and serve at various places in the neighborhood during the day. The cost of the Mission Trip is $25.
